E. Webscapes Design Studio Migrates Colorburned

Great write-up from the folks at E. Webscapes Design Studio on their work migrating the popular Colorburned.com site from MovableType to WordPress:

Back in 2008, I worked with Grant Friedman from Colorburned to implement his design ideas into a custom theme for his Movable Type powered site. Recently, Grant approached me again with his desire to convert his MT blog over to WordPress – including a brand new theme design with several innovative features, to boot! He brought his design ideas and specifications and I was up for the challenge…

There are a ton of good tips and reviews of various plugins and methods used to redirect the MovableType links to the new WordPress site. The post concludes with a great summary:

I launched Grant’s new design on the WordPress platform this week and he’s gotten rave reviews so far – and is pretty happy, himself. He’s finding that he is appreciating the WordPress platform, over Movable Type, mostly because it saves time in his, already busy, blogging schedule.

Grant of Colorburned also offers his thoughts on the new design and move to WordPress.

Great work on putting the design together. Grant did a great job with the design. I dont blame him for going to a professional to code the design up. I am more of a visual person when it comes to trying to code for WordPress haha.
