Very exciting news that Friendster, a popular social networking service with over 90 million global members, has relaunched their blog offering and selected WordPress MU.  These member blogs, which are used by millions of Friendster members,  were previously powered by Six Apart’s Typepad service.

For Friendster members with existing blogs, all the content was seamlessly transitioned into the new WordPress powered blog.  In addition, according to Friendster:

Users can also embed into their blog photos directly from their Friendster photo albums and videos from popular video sites such as YouTube.

Friendster blogs are built on WordPress, an Open Source publishing platform used by millions – including many global top-tier news sites and publishers.

Congrats to Ross and the team over at Friendster for pulling off this massively succesful project – the feedback I’m seeing from Friendster members has been very positive.

You can read more details about this new offering on the Friendster news blog.
